I was approached by the Family Missions Company to design the visual identity and create motion graphics for their missionary discipleship training series: Into the Deep.

Put out into the deep water and let your nets down for a catch.

Luke 5:4

The Brand

Putting out into the deep is the beginning of an adventure. It’s at once exciting and dangerous.

The depth of the ocean stands as the pavement of a journey or the jaws of an abyss ready to swallow the traveler. With confidence and excitement, we draw the pilgrim onward.

The Logo

The anchor has long been a Christian symbol of hope and a centered, sure foundation. In keeping with the metaphor of “putting out into the deep” the anchor seemed the ideal symbol to brand the series with.

In the first iteration of the logo it was easy to see a face so we made some tweaks that made it slightly more ornate but kept its versatility to be used almost anywhere as a circular emblem.

 The Animation

The video series needed an opening logo animation with a title card and a suite of editable elements including lower thirds, on-screen text, and full-screen quotes. These were delivered as motion graphics template files so the client could add/edit the information on their end, drastically decreasing the complexity of the production pipeline.

Drop me a line!

Creative vision and execution is where I thrive. If you’ve got a project that needs a helmsman I’m always looking to bring my energy, talent, and direction to new narratives.
