Well hey there.
My name is Ben West and I’m a Cincinnati-based motion designer. I currently serve as the Animation Director of Akimbo Studio.
A bit about my methodology: Story is King. Our brains are hard-wired to view events as a story, with ourselves as the protagonists. Narratives aren’t just cute, they’re a fundamental part of the way we perceive the world and our place in it.
If Story is King, Beauty is Queen. The most beautiful video will fall flat if it doesn’t connect your audience with meaning - BUT - the most articulate truth can fail to capture the attention of even the most earnest viewer if that message is not communicated powerfully. Colors that capture emotion, movements that drive a heartbeat, compositions that wow with precision; these are all essential parts of a well-told story - a story that’s been approached as a craft.
I love left-brain/right-brain fusion projects and get especially excited about anything with a cause I can really get behind.
